QUINTA MINUVIDA celebrates the traditional fruit orchard,

THE ORCHARD

QUINTA MINUVIDA is set in former orange growing country and such was the scent of orange flowers that seamen could smell its sweetness a mile out. While the orange industry has all but vanished, we honor its heritage of the Azorean traditional orchard by fully restoring and preserving the former orange groves built in square sections and protected by tall hedges from Atlantic winds and salts. The humid subtropical climate is ideal for many fruits and vegetables, and we are growing them! So, when you arrive, you may be able to pick bananas, guavas, cherimoyas, avocados, mangoes, feijoas, loquats and other fruits directly from the tree. Or you can pick from our organic and medicinal herb garden, organic vegetable garden and ask us about our unusual crops, such as taro, Malabar chestnut and coffee. And when you wake up for breakfast, rejoice in the luxury of tasting our fruits, homemade jams and many other local products.

THE FOOD

WE MARRY THE TRADITIONAL with the innovative and creative. We only serve local in season. Many of the ingredients are grown on our garden orchard. DAILY BREAKFAST includes fresh, local products almost exclusively. We serve breads, yogurts and cheeses from the best local producers. Our low-sugar fruit jams are house made as is our yummy granola and fruit-based cakes. Organic fruit from our orchard or from selected local producers greets you every morning. Herbal teas and other house-made surprises as well. OUR GROUP EVENTS feature the famous MINUVIDA DINNER, a five-course sensory food journey inspired by local cuisine using traditional ingredients with a creative twist. Includes local wine pairings and our home-made liqueur.
